AL JAZY's journey has been marked by significant milestones, shaping our evolution as a comprehensive shipping, freight forwarding and logistics provider starting from Jordan.
Let's explore some key milestones in our history:
1975
In 1975, AL JAZY Establishment was officially registered under number 11928, marking the beginning of our journey as a trusted name in the shipping, freight forwarding and logistics sector.
1976 – 1980
During the oil boom of the 1970s, Aqaba Port solidified its position as a pivotal gateway to the northern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. AL JAZY played a crucial role in handling intensive project cargo, facilitating the seamless movement of 1.5 million freight tons from Aqaba to various destinations in the northern part of KSA.
1980 – 1990
Throughout the Iraq-Iran war, Aqaba served as a major entry point for Iraqi cargo. AL JAZY extended its services to vessels calling at Aqaba from Basra Port and provided overland transport to Iraq for various projects. Recognizing the significance of the Iraqi market, AL JAZY established its own representative office in Baghdad.
1990 – 2000
The embargo on Iraq resulting from its invasion of Kuwait had a profound impact on the shipping sector. Adapting to the changing circumstances, AL JAZY shifted its focus from handling building and project materials to transporting food, medicine, and other aid-related cargoes. The company played a crucial role in discharging UN-approved cargo to Iraq within the framework of the Oil for Food Program.
1997
The late Lt. General Mashhoor Al Jazy changed the company’s name to Al Jazy Trading Co. under registration number 70335 and registered Al Jazy Shipping and Forwarding as a trading name.
2001 – 2003
AL JAZY faced a unique challenge in 2001 when requested to provide a direct shipping service from Algeria to Iraq via Aqaba. The company devised a solution by establishing its own service on chartered tonnage and leased containers. This service operated successfully until 2003, which temporarily halted most shipping activities to Iraq via Aqaba.
2003 – 2006
In 2003, AL JAZY expanded its fleet by acquiring its first vessel, MV ALJAZY, a RO/RO container ship. It served prestigious clients and enabled collaboration with SCL to provide a new shuttle service from Salalah to Mumbai. Additionally, AL JAZY established its presence in Algeria under "Global Shipping & Logistics Services, "representing CSAV NORASIA in Algeria and Libya. The company acquired its second vessel, AL JAZY HOPE, a general cargo container vessel, in 2005.
2004
Al Jazy Shipping and Forward established Global Shipping and Logistics Services in Algeria.
2005
The company acquired its second tonnage, Al Jazy Hope.

2009 – 2010
In 2009, AL JAZY deployed a feeder vessel to perform a service out of Port Said, covering Algiers and Oran ports in Algeria. This expanded the company's fleet coverage to include major ports in Algeria and Tripoli and Misurata in Libya.
